Nothing edible should end up in a bin.
A simple, direct way for supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and market sellers to send surplus and unsellable food to livestock farmers, instead of landfill.
Figures as of October 2026, updated as we log collections. Live tracking is coming as we grow.
What does a pickup add up to?
Slide to see the landfill emissions a diversion avoids, using the same factor we report with.
How it works.
You tell us what’s left over
Supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and market sellers tell us about surplus, leftovers or food that will not sell, on your schedule.
We collect and coordinate
SurplusHub arranges pickup and logistics, so it is no extra work for your business.
It becomes livestock feed
We deliver it to livestock farmers, such as pig farms, who use it as feed instead of it going to landfill.
Who this is for.
Food businesses
Supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and market sellers.
If you regularly have surplus, leftovers or food that is unsellable but still edible for livestock, we would like to work with you. No cost to sign up. We handle the logistics.
Livestock farmers
Pig farms and other livestock operations.
We connect livestock farmers with a steady source of feed material, sourced responsibly from local food businesses.
How we calculate impact.
Waste managed or diverted
Every collection is weighed at pickup. We add up the weight collected across all collections and convert to tonnes for reporting.
100 kg collected so far, 0.1 tonnes diverted.
Carbon footprint avoided
Diverting food waste from landfill avoids the methane it would otherwise generate. We apply the US EPA WARM v16 emission factor for landfilled food waste: 0.56 tCO₂e avoided per tonne diverted.
56 kg CO₂e avoided so far, 0.056 tCO₂e.
Source: US EPA WARM v16, “Landfilling” emission factors, food waste national average (0.508 MTCO₂E per short ton, converted to 0.56 tCO₂e per tonne). These are running totals from our collection log. The factor is a US average used as the best available proxy, and it does not credit the feed displaced. Full method
